Project SEE -- Science and Engineering Education -- will provide books and digital databases to faculty in China and Central and Eastern Europe, to support their teaching. The books will include titles most used in leading technical schools in the West (MIT, Cambridge, Georgia Tech, Cal Tech, and others). The databases will include best practices including lectures, lab exercises, and tests -- a college course in a box, from the teacher's perspective.

To implement the project, we are completing three tasks:

- Outreach to science and engineering schools and societies, including appeals for donated books and other materials (journals, conference proceedings, course packs).

- Research effort to compile widely used materials and best practices in the teaching of engineering and science. Results will be presented in Web format on servers in China, Central and Eastern Europe, and other regions where faculty have limited access to knowledge and few opportunities to update their training.

- Development of an on-line book and journal donation site to provide new materials to faculty and teachers' colleges.

Funds to launch Project SEE have been given by the Engineering Information Foundation and the Freeman Foundation. Additional funds are needed to sustain SEE over the next five years.
