The NACS/Bridge to Asia Book Donation Program The need is enormous. 1000 universities in China and Southeast Asia are in desperate need of American books. We invite you to join the hundreds of other good and caring NACS members who have responded by sending 9 million books overseas. More than 500 college stores support the program, together with the Nebraska Book Company, Follett Higher Education Group, and McGraw-Hill. Most stores collect books throughout the year, including at buy-back. Many use bins where students give what they can't sell. Many also collect books and journals from faculty. Most donate non-returnables of their own - OPs, OEs, dead books, comp & review copies, and overstocks. Finally, the stores ship to us in Chicago or San Francisco, with discounts from NACS-approved freight carriers. Advantages to you:
Journals: complete runs that span 10 years and reach the 1990s Condition: new or used (used books should be presentable) Publication dates: 1995 to the present SHIP TO: (Use your NACS freight discount.) Bridge to Asia Every book you give will spark ideas, lift hopes, and brighten lives. Thank you for caring and sharing! Bridge to Asia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, formed in 1987 to support higher education in developing countries in Asia. We are not related to any other program and have no agenda other than to promote equal access to knowledge. We conduct book drives through universities and national organizations, seeking books, journals, monographs, databases, syllabuses, conference proceedings, maps, charts, sheet music, audiotapes and more. Our donors have given 9 million books to 1000 universities in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and China. We have been funded by private foundations (Kunstadter, AT&T, Henry Luce, Freeman, Ford, MacArthur, Starr, others), government agencies (USIA, Chinese Ministry of Education), corporations (Chevron), and hundreds of individuals. National organizations and publications have provided publicity, including NACS, American Association of University Women, American Council of Learned Societies, American Scientist, National Geographic, and many more. Donations of materials and funds are tax deducible to the extent permitted by law. Photo of Bridge to Asia at CAMEX '99 (80K) |
